A billow of clouds has floated through the doors of Knit With Attitude. Though these are not rain clouds, but welcome bundles of hand dyed Suri Cloud from Black Elephant.

We love the gorgeously hand dyed colours that Petra of Black Elephant produces. We have long admired her Merino Singles. Now we can introduce Suri Cloud. Suri Cloud is an enticing blend of 74% Suri Alpaca and 26% Silk. A lace weight yarn that is so soft it feels amazing, with a lustre from the silk core that is used to bind the suri alpaca fibres together and gives the yarn strength. It has all the fluffy qualities you would expect from a a similar Mohair Silk and will bloom with a wonderfully fuzzy halo creating a soft, light and cosy fabric. With a range of speckled and semi solids its perfect just knit on its own with a wide range of needle sizes or knit together with another yarn to add a light speckled colour note.

The more I look at this yarn the more I’m dreaming up projects that just call for it on its own. It’s so soft and the colours are beautiful it needs the right project to honour it. So read on for some fuzzy inspiration.

Wayworn (link to designers website) by Melanie Berg. This light and airy shawl is a combination of three colours. Using minimal textural stitches and stripes to create interest in this simple design. It would look stunning with the semi solid colours paired together.

Ghost Whisperer (link to designers website) by Park Williams. This fun and simple lace weight top is a great layering piece. With an i-cord neckline and puffed sleeves given structure with ribbing. Relaxed and airy.

Rainbow Solo (link to designers website) by Lene Holme Samsøe – This funky chevron top is created by holding two strands together. This gives the fabric a bit more density. Its also a fun way of using lots of different colours. As well as knitting this in Suri Cloud you could also add in some Fyberspates Cumulus for more colour possibilities.

Schnecke (link to ravelry) by Babette Ulmer. The dramatic central spiral in this design really caught my eye. You start knitting from the middle in the round and work out to the edges. It really plays with the light through the eyelets.

Shelly (link to ravelry) by eri shimizu. I really like the elegant simplicity of this top. Light and airy. Worked from the top down and in the round and finished with very simple edges. Pick your favourite colour and enjoy the yarn.

mo troppo (link to ravelry) by Åsa Tricosa. Knit as an asymmetrical mitred rectangle with a spine created by a double decrease. Featuring stripes and textural stitches. Choose some fun contrasting colours to make this design pop.
