We have revamped the ever popular Tessellated Kits so I’m having a rummage through the shelves and putting together some colour combinations.

The Tessellated pattern comes in either a vest or a pullover and both incorporate this beautifully simple slip stitch colourwork design.

The vest is a simple round necked tank top knit from the bottom up. The pullover is a classic drop shoulder jumper with deeper ribbing at the neck and hem edge and is also worked from the bottom up. Both are knit in the round. What is fun about this design is that it uses three different yarns together to create a colourwork design of both texture and colour. A solid sport weight yarn which features throughout and on the ribbing, we have chosen Hey Mama Wolf Mokosh for this. A super soft Merino d’Arles. The contrast colours are made up of a marled yarn and a fluffy one. We instantly thought Riverknits Chimera for the marl and for the fluff it has to be Fyberspates Cumulus. The combination of fibres make this a really engaging pattern. If you are unsure about how challenging a colourwork project would be I would say that it’s certainly on the easier side. The pattern repeat is small and easy to remember and instead of carrying the contrast colour like with more traditional stranded colourwork you only work one colour at a time and slip the colour you don’t need, making the technique more akin to mosaic knitting.
