Can Norne Yarn get any better, the answer is yes! We have introduced a stunning new base: Mulberry Silk Lace. A sumptuous 100% Mulberry Silk in a tantalising fine lace weight. Its pure indulgence for the eyes and the hands.

These 100g skeins are 800m of the finest Grade A Mulberry Silk. Mulberry Silk gets its name because of the Mulberry leaves the silk worms exclusively feed on. This creates a fibre that is extremely smooth but also strong. I know I say this about all the yarn but you really have to feel this yarn to believe it. It is cool to the touch and has a silky smoothness like no other yarn we stock. This is all combined with Tuva of Norne Yarn’s dreamy colours, which are rich and enticing and a take their inspiration from Nordic mythology.

As it is 100% Silk the base is bright and luminescent creating lighter versions of Tuva’s colouways. The silk glows with a glossy sheen which is just magic. See above the difference the base makes to the final colour of the yarn. Norne Yarn Singles (on the left) has Yak in it making the base darker giving a moodier colour compared to the Mulberry Silk Lace (on the right) which has a pure white base. When knit up you will create the most beautiful drapey fabric that is light and flowy and shimmers in the breeze. It’s perfect for elegant lace shawls or light tops that will hang in the most refined way. It will perform well in the most extravagantly lacey shawl to the simply knit top in plain stocking stitch. Filigree Tee (link to designers website) by Julie Knits in Paris. A summer essential or just as a layering piece, this knitted t-shirt is designed in Norne Yarn Mulberry Silk Lace. A simple shape with pleasing eyelet details that run around the neckline, hem, sleeves and along the side seams. Worked seamlessly from the top down for easy enjoyable knitting. All sizes can be knit in one or two skeins.

Hope Remains (link to ravelry) by Boo Knits. This lace shawl takes just one skein (800m)! Knit from the top down in a a crescent shape with beaded details. The lace motif builds up and flows towards the large lacey edge.

Orkidea (link to designers website) by Anna Johanna. This summer top has some elegant details. Simple texture is runs down the middle from the centre of the v-neck. ‘Cookie-cutter’ sleeve details add a nice finishing edge to the cuffs. All sizes can be knit in one or two skeins.

Rose of the North (link to ravelry) by Anne-Lise Maigaard. This a pattern to really sink your teeth into. Described as difficult it is one to really challenge you. Worked from the inside out and features cables, lace and gathered stitches. This epic shawl can be knit with two skeins.
