One of the ‘weird’ UK particulars I learned when moving to London is that the tax year starts April 6th. Yes, that’s right, not January 1st but a few days into April. This also means that we have to do our stock take at this time, so the day before yesterday we counted all the things, absolutely everything! And then came yesterday, where we tidied, but not your average tidying, we were preparing the shop for our reopening this Monday! My shop no longer looks like a warehouse, gone are all the boxes and my shelves are once more bursting with colours. And then we had Champagne!
The three of us sat back, we had some lovely take away Ramen and a proper party. It was time to celebrate! Celebrating the look of the shop, our newfound enthusiasm and reawakening of our passion, the fact that we are still standing after such a year, and that on Monday we will open our doors and finally be able to welcome our friends back in. It feels like a massive achievement, a moment definitely worth celebrating!
Admittedly I m feeling it today, but it was so so worth it. Today is for holding on to my needles, for letting the lovely yarn I’m working with run between my fingers, to finding my calm and my breath through he rhythm of my stitches. And later tonight, I’m more than ready to share this moment and the celebration with you guys. If it hadn’t been for our regular virtual knit nights, I’m not sure how I would have managed to ‘plow through’ this year, so tonight is all about us and the community and spirit we collectively created via zoom. I can’t wait to see you … and what you are working on!

The details are the same as always, we are on from 7pm to 8.30pm UK time, you’ll find the link to join at the bottom of this post, and you can drop in at any point. If you are joining us for the first time, read more about Zoom and how it works in the first post we did about the virtual knit nights right here.
Until tonight my friends …
