As Christmas is quickly approaching the not so organised of us are frantically looking for for some quick and easy Christmas gifts. We knitters and crocheters rely on our crafting skills this time of year to whip up quick and thoughtful gifts for our friends and loved ones. So with this idea in mind I have put together a series of blog posts for some quick gifting inspiration.
Next up we have gloves. Gloves don’t need to be fiddly and time consuming, there are lots of patterns out there for simple mittens and fingerless gloves that work up super quick. Gloves are always a welcome edition to a wardrobe this time of year and make perfect gifts.
North Country Mitts by Andrea Mowry. Nothing is more simple than some fingerless gloves knit in an aran weight yarn. These are economical as well, using under 75yards of yarn. The simple design is given a bit of flair by the chevron design. Try something warm but soft like Du Store Alpakka – Alpakka Tweed.
Pinehurst by Natalie Selles. Are you looking for some fingerless gloves but with something a little more special. This pair comes in three sizes, two length options, and two cuff options. Perfect for keeping you nice and warm in the colder months. Knit these in the luscious The Fibre Co Terra, a yarn made for special gifts.
The World’s Simplest Mittens by Tincanknits. Alexa Ludeman and Emily Wessel of Tincanknits can always be relied on to provide simple and well written patterns. If fingerless gloves are not your thing then try these mittens. They are free and made for any gauge of yarn. Also there is a very informative blog post where they take you through the whole process. If I were knitting these I would choose the DK version and choose a striking shade of Fyberspates Vivacious DK.
Speedy Selbu Mittens by Skeindeer Knits. If you are feeling adventurous and want to try some colour work then try these speedy ones! These cute mittens are knit in an Aran weight yarn for speed, but still have the graphic pattern typical of Selbu Mittens. Amaze someone at Christmas with these. Try them in Lopi Léttlopi for a cosy and warm pair of mittens.
50-Minute Fingerless Gloves by Sarah Zimmerman. A really simple pair of fingerless gloves that promises you can make in under an hour. Whats better than that. Cosy and cute. Try them in Kate Davies Designs Àrd-thìr.
