We have just received a delivery of the much loved Socks Yeah DK! This trusty yarn is great for all sorts of projects, not just socks. So what a great time to get some Socks Yeah inspiration.

Socks Yeah DK is the heavier DK version of Socks Yeah 4ply. Following on from the popular Socks Yeah 4ply, designer Rachel Coopey and yarn producer Fyberspates developed this DK weight yarn with the same characteristics as the lighter 4ply version. A lovely and soft merino/nylon blend with a good bouncy twist makes Socks Yeah DK beautiful to knit with and wear but also strong and sturdy for those garments and accessories that need extra strength. It’s a great go to yarn which has become a favourite here in the shop, not only because it is so versatile but also because of its stunning selection of colours. Easy to care for superwash merino is ideal for babies and children being machine washable at 30º on a wool cycle. The nylon content will make it perfect for active kids as well of course for socks. Now I am inspired to knit something, so here are some pattern suggestions.

Pimlico Cowl (link to designers website) by Jo Torr. This fun colourwork cowl has a graphic zigzag pattern that fades and blends between the colours giving a hazy like effect. Surprisingly only two colours are ever worked on each row making colour management much easier. It also only takes three skeins of Socks Yeah DK so choose three complimentary or contrasting ones for different results.

Pixie Dust (link to Ravelry) by Dani Sunshine. A simple top down child’s cardigan that uses yarn over increases to shape the yoke. These yarn overs also give it a delicate lace detail. With options to knit it with long or short sleeves. A classic cardigan shape is given a twist with the stylish three button closure.

Tunisian Sampler Cowl (link to designers website) by Joanne Scrace. Taking just three skeins of Socks Yeah DK this crochet cowl is a great exploration in Tunisian crochet stitches. Starting simply and then building up to more complicated stitches, a great way to improve your skills as you make.

Peeky Catsocks (link to designers website) by Marna Gilligan. These super cute cat socks have little peeking cat faces. Knit from the cuff down with a short row heel. The colourwork design is simple to knit and also being DK will be quick to knit. I like that the colours are reversed on each sock.

Pleione blanket (link to Ravelry) by Lucy Hague. Knitted from the centre out with hexagon motifs this stunning blanket really showcases Socks Yeah DK‘s crisp cable definition. Beautifully detailed and a real a showcase of cables.

Volt Mitts (link to Ravelry) by Sue Stratford. How cool are this fingerless mitts. A great little intarsia knitting project, perfect for those wanting to try out the technique. Knit flat and then seamed, ideal for leftovers or can be knit in three different colours of Socks Yeah DK.

Retro Tea Cosy by Charlotte Walford. This is a fun one to end on, what a fab tea cosy! Dress your teapot up in the most dapper of outfits. A Starsky and Hutch inspired design features colourwork bands and a shawl collar and even has a belt.
