The G-uld No.4 Minis keep calling to me every time I walk past them in the shop. The colours are just so lovely and the Merino/Gotland blend base is beautiful. Just like the bigger 100g equivalents the G-uld No.4 Minis are all naturally dyed by G-uld in Denmark but instead of 100g these come in a handy 25g.

The meterage of the No.4 is so generous a little bit goes a log way. These 25g skeins have a 162m each. No. 4 is a light 4ply 75% Falkland Merino and 25% Gotland wool. The Merino is soft and white and the Gotland is a darker grey creating a yarn with a lovely heathered quality. All naturally dyed by the expert hands at G-uld, who have mastered the craft of natural dyeing to create a range of vivid and consistent colours. Using cochineal, indigo, madder, walnut and heather, to name a few. By layering these dyes a whole palette of colours can be created. No.4 is great knit on its own to produce a light and airy fabric or by holding two strands together for a denser knit.

As it is hot I’m looking for small easy to pick up projects, so I’ve been thinking what can you make with just one skein? Single skein projects are great for quick items and gifts and there are a lot of accessories out there that can be made with just a little bit of yarn. It’s also a fun way to try out a yarn you might be interested in without committing to a larger project. So here is a little selection of one skein projects.

Cité (link to ravelry) by Anne Hanson. I love the delicate shape of the this lacey cowl. Its small size is cosy and great to be worn under a jacket without adding too much bulk.

Vitis Hat (link to ravelry) by Erendis of Numenor. This little hat with its trellis like stitches would look great in G-uld No.4, adding to the textural qualities of this design. Worked in the round from the bottom up the pattern repeat is just 4 stitches over 4 rows, so an easy one to remember.

Garter Eyes (link to designers website) by Sophia Minakais. This sophisticated looking cowl is super simple. Perfect for traveling or holiday knitting. Give yourself over and enjoy the yarn while you knit garter stitch and the occasional yarn over row.

Everything November Mitts (link to ravelry) by Jen Yard. Its always good to be prepared for colder weather. These simple ribbed fingerless mitts are one size but the ribbing ensures a snug fit on most hands. Knit in the round from the bottom up they are classic and an essential autumn staple.

Knitting Badge Neckerchief (link to ravelry) by Niklas Heed. This cute little neckerchief can be knit in any yarn and any gauge. I think G-uld No.4 would make a nice light accessory around your neck and a great way to jazz up out an outfit. Knit in garter stitch with rows of yarn overs that are dropped on the following row to create rows of texture.

Flounce Scrunchie (link to designers website) by Iza Grzybek. When I was searching for small projects a lot of scrunchies came up. These little projects are perfect for small quantities of yarn and a great on the go project. This one is knit in the round and finished with a ruffle.
