I’m seeing seasonal decorations popping up all over the place. Christmas has arrived. I don’t know about you but I love to knit little Christmas decorations and every year have knitted a bauble or two. So I had great fun researching for this blog post. Balls Up ! by General Hogbuffer

The classic knitted Christmas bauble. This simple design is knit in the round and can be endlessly personalised. Designed to be knit over a polystyrene ball to create a perfect spherical shape but can also be stuffed with toy stuffing. Knit in a 4ply this project would be great for leftovers. Or choose a mini skien set like Norne Yarn BFL Sock Mini Hanks Set or Hey Mama Wolf Sockyarn #04 Minis for some stylish complimentary colours in small quantities.

Destello Bauble by Yessabett Bueno

These intricate crochet baubles are stunning. Using the crochet overlay technique to create a complex mix of colours and texture. Again these would be great for leftovers but I’m also drawn to the idea of using Nurturing Fibres Eco-Bamboo and Eco-Fusion for a fun combination of glossy and matte yarns.

Christmas Stockings by Faye Kennington

A Christmas stocking is the icon of the season and lends itself very well to knitting. After all its just a giant sock! Whats more is there is no second sock syndrome. This pattern comes with 24 mix and match colourwork charts giving you endless possibilities. These would look great in The Fibre Co Cumbria.

Teeny Tiny Holiday Sweater by Veera Välimäki

These super cute little jumpers by Veera Välimäki would look great hung from a tree for a knitting themed festive display. A perfect stash buster or indulge in a little mini skien of hand dyed yarn like Black Elephant Merino Singles Mini.

Mini Christmas Stocking Ornaments by Julie Williams

Miniature knitted versions of things are the cutest. These little stockings would make a great advent calendar with treats inside and then perfect to hang on the tree. Small quantities of leftover yarn would be ideal but if you are knitting a full set maybe a combination of Hillesvåg Sølje and the white Vilje would give an authentic woolly edge.

Scintillation by Hunter Hammersen

These are the sweetest little stars and great for adding a bit of colour to your festive display. The pattern includes instructions for three different sizes and stars with four, five or six points. They would look lovely hung on the tree, strung from a garland or even in a bowl as a festive table centrepiece. You can knit them with different weight yarns so there is no excuse not to use up those little leftovers or maybe grab a wild speckled skien of Hedgehog Fibres.

Dumpster Fire 2020 by Kino Knits

This humorous decoration popped up when I was looking through Ravelry. It probably sums up what a lot of us think about 2020. A great way to put a smile on your face at the end of this strange year and half of the sales are being donated to charity. You can knit it in any gauge, you might find something in Coopknits Socks Yeah 4ply or DK.

Knitted Lights by Leila Raven

Ive included this clever idea at the end as I have been noticing it on instagram. Its a fun way of honouring your favourite hobby in the form of a light up knitted decoration. It would look great hung up on the wall or at your window as a signal to knitters walking past.
