Next up in the Year Long Knit Along is Rebel by May Linn ‘Maya’ Bang. Rebel is a simple but flattering jumper worked from the top down with pleasing waist shaping, and slightly longer at the back than the front. Knit in stripes with a fun contrast ribbing at the neck, cuffs and hem.

Maya says about the design:

For the longest time, this design was called the ‘nothing to wear’ jumper, for those moments where you stare blankly into your wardrobe and nothing quite fits the mood. A simple, comfortable jumper that can be worn for any occasion, paired with jeans or a dress, with a flattering shape to make you feel pretty. My inspiration was the thin striped T-shirts worn by ‘rebels’ of their time – Debbie Harry, Elvis, Johnny Depp in Cry-Baby – all with a nod to old-time prison uniforms. An easy-going but still interesting knit, with an unexpected colour pop at the hem, neckline and cuffs, to please your inner rebel.

Rebel uses three different colours of the G-uld No. 4 which is held double throughout. Two main colours for the stripes and one for the contrast details. G-uld No. 4 is the beautiful blend of 75% Falkland Merino and 25% Gotland wool naturally dyed by G-uld in Denmark.
