This post I will look at the designs from Karie Westermann and May Linn Bang.
Resilience cowl and fingerless mitts by Karie Westermann
This cute set by Karie Westerman features a repeating design of trees on both the mittens and cowl. The central colourwork panels are framed by contrasting ribbing. The cowl is worked in the round and the tree design is read from charts. The mittens are worked in the same way from the cuff to the fingers, with increases for the thumb gusset. The thumb is picked up and knit separately. A great one to have fun with colours and also perfect for little leftovers.
Knit in Hillesvåg Ullvarefabrikk, Tinde and Sol which is the perfect cosy yarn for knitting colourwork projects. It has great grip and structure so holds a crisp definition. With a beautiful range of earthy colours dyed over a grey base. Sol is spun from a Norwegian lambswool to give a white yarn to the collection. Karie knit her sample in 103 Cognac, 2017 Lime and 2130 Lys Turkis along with the white Sol.
Rebel by May Linn Bang
Maya’s simple, comfortable jumper is full of pleasing details and flattering shapes. A great jumper to be worn with jeans or a dress. Beginning at the neckband and worked from the top down, raglan increases are worked and then the sleeves are separated. The waist is shaped to add an elegant look and short rows create a lowered back. These simple details elevate the humble jumper into one that is pleasing and flattering to wear. Designed for two colour stripes and contrast ribbing. Have fun with this design and choose some high or low contrast colours.
Knit in G-uld No. 4 held double stranded. This light blend of Merino/Gotland is all naturally dyed by hand. With a surprisingly varied palette of colours that all work perfectly together. Held singularly for light and airy projects or doubled for a denser strand.
